This type of water jet cutting machine takes cold water and pressurizes it to around 60,000 PSI. This high pressure water is then forced through a series of narrow orifices or jewels. These enhance and focus the water stream into a powerful cutting force.

For many items pure water is sufficient to cut cleanly. For hard materials we add in special powdered abrasive which enhances the cutting power of water alone.
